Visa information
Visa information involves identifying a purpose, checking the relevant procedure and separating established facts from unanswered questions. The following reading notes are a starting point for research, not an eligibility assessment.
Give each purpose its own heading
Create distinct sections for study, work and travel. In each section, write the destination, the proposed activity and the source of the information. Do not treat a general invitation or an attractive course description as permission to undertake another activity. The point is to identify what you need to verify, not to select a visa category from a generic checklist.
Distinguish institutional information from government rules
A college can describe its course and an employer can describe a role, but those descriptions do not decide immigration permission. Keep the relevant institution’s information beside, rather than in place of, the official procedure. Ask which authority issues the permission you are considering and where that authority publishes its current instructions.
Record the exact country and procedure
The same words can have different meanings across jurisdictions. A visitor process, work authorization and residence application should not be merged simply because all involve travel. If comparing several countries, use a separate page for each and retain links to the original authorities. Mark any page that is a private explanation so it is not mistaken for an official instruction later.
